Case Study: HVAC and Vehicle Exhaust System Installation for La Vergne Public Works

HVAC and Vehicle Exhaust System Installation for La Vergne Public Works

To better serve the community and accommodate its growing operational needs, the City of La Vergne, TN, invested in a brand-new, state-of-the-art facility. The 63,500 square foot building was designed to house the city’s Public Works and Development Services departments, which is responsible for maintaining essential infrastructure, including roadways, water services, sanitation, and vehicle maintenance. The facility includes office spaces, vehicle service bays, and storage areas to support these critical municipal operations.

The job required a team of three commercial plumbers and a crane to remove the failed unit and install the replacement. Despite the complexity, the project was completed in just half a day, restoring compliance and ensuring the fire suppression system remained fully operational.

Project Overview

As part of this project, Interstate AC’s new construction team was awarded the subcontracting bid by Baron Construction to install a complete HVAC system. The goal of the project was to ensure optimal climate control and air quality for the facility, built to last.

The Challenge

  • Complex System Requirements: The new facility’s plans required a robust full HVAC system capable of handling office, garage, and community spaces related to municipal operational demands.
  • Vehicle Exhaust Management: The building housed service bays for public works vehicles, necessitating a custom exhaust removal system to ensure safe indoor air for employees while vehicles are running.
  • Coordination with Other Trades: Working alongside Baron Construction and other subcontractors required strategic scheduling and communication to avoid delays and ensure seamless integration.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Meeting local building codes and industry standards for HVAC and exhaust systems was critical to ensuring the safety of all employees and longevity of the installation.

The Solution

  • Customized HVAC Installation: Our team installed a commercial-grade heating and cooling system tailored to the building’s operational needs.
  • Vehicle Exhaust Removal System: We implemented a hose-and-ductwork system designed to safely extract vehicle emissions, maintaining compliance with safe air quality regulations.
  • Efficient Project Coordination: Through proactive planning and collaboration with the GC, we minimized disruptions and streamlined the installation process.
  • Code Compliance & Best Practices: Every aspect of the installation adhered to industry regulations, ensuring long-term performance and safety.

The Results

Thanks to our construction team’s expertise and efficiency, La Vergne’s new Public Works facility now operates with a high-performance HVAC system and a state-of-the-art vehicle exhaust removal system. The project provides a safe and comfortable environment for local government employees.
