What is the difference between an electronic air cleaner and an electrostatic air filter?
- Nothing, the names are used interchangeably.
- The electrostatic is the “old type” without any electronic controls. The electronic ones are the “new type.”
- Electronic air cleaners work inside your ductwork and are constantly powered to have an electric charge that acts as a dust magnet. Electrostatic filters are replaceable filters, which had an electric charge applied to them at the factory, are not powered, and degrade over time.
